Heating Services: When To Call For Help With Your Smart Thermostat

Posted on: 7 July 2022

Has your AC's smart thermostat become a headache with erratic performance? Today's smart thermostats are designed to be simple and easy to use, but they don't work perfectly in every home. If you notice your smart thermostat isn't doing what you want it to, it might be time to call in heating services to look at it. Here are some common problems that may need the attention of a heating service technician:

The Touchscreen Is Dead

If your thermostat is hard to read or won't respond to any touch, then it's not just a cosmetic problem. It could be a power problem or a fault in the internal mechanism. Sometimes, moisture infiltration will be a problem.

The technician will check for any other physical damage and let you know what kind of repair needs to be done. In some cases, the thermostat might need to be replaced entirely.

The Temperatures Are Erratic

Sometimes just unplugging it from its power source and plugging it back in will reboot it and solve your issue. If that doesn't work, there may be something wrong with the thermostat calibration. This happens when the thermostat software has a glitch. The technician will test the thermostat readings on a computer and reset the unit if necessary.

The Thermostat Won't Connect to the WIFI

Smart thermostats rely on networking, so it has limited functionality when there is no wifi connection. Wifi connectivity problems can arise from both ends; the thermostat's network receiver may be faulty, or the wifi router could fail to transmit. Either way, call heating services to diagnose the connectivity to restore full functionality.

The Thermostat Is Not Visible on the Smartphone App

Today's smart thermostats come with smartphone control. If you have a problem where the thermostat is not visible on the app, you need to know that this could be because of a bad Wi-Fi connection or a glitchy smartphone app. The technician will try to reinstall the app with the correct configurations and check if the thermostat connectivity is OK.

The Thermostat is Not Sending Alerts

If your thermostat is not alerting you when it should be, that could be a bigger problem. There will be no alerts if there is no connectivity. The thermostat communicator could also be problematic. Whatever the reason, call the technician to have a look.

A smart thermostat is one of the most convenient appliances in a home when it's working as expected, but like any other appliance, it can develop faults. Call heating services to diagnose and fix these smart thermostat faults when they occur.
